Personality answers:

1. Who in your character's canon influenced the most growth in your character? What do they think about this character?

Out of everyone, it was Gilbert's best friend and master Oz who influenced Gilbert most and motivated him to grow as a person. Gilbert is a frightened and amnesiac child when Oz's uncle, Oscar, first finds him and brings him to the Vessalius household. Oz shields him from a falling vase. The two become best friends, with Gil being a sort of confidant to some of Oz's insecurities. When Oz is dragged into the Abyss, Gil spends the next ten years working for Pandora as an assassin and spy in the Nightray Household just for the chance to rescue Oz.

Gil idolizes Oz and places a great burden on him. Gil lacks the confidence to make his own decisions, only acting on his choices with Oz's permission, such as when he saves Break or when he seeks out an upset Elliot. However it's Oz's kindness towards Gilbert and their friendship that influences Gil to change. Eventually, Gil fully realizes the burden he has placed on Oz, and he chooses for himself to be someone Oz can rely on, making an irreversible decision so that he will never be at risk of harming him again.

2. What would your character say is their best trait? What is truly their best trait?

If forced, Gil would probably say it's his cooking or housekeeping.

Realistically, Gil's best trait is his loyalty. This is most apparent with Oz, but he's shown to be fiercely loyal to his loved ones and friends, often putting himself in danger to protect them without second thought and fretting over them tirelessly. Gil has a scar from when he jumped in front of Oz's attack aimed at his father because he wanted to protect Oz from the guilt of accidentally killing his father. He protected his mentor, Break, when he was attacked. He also took care of his younger brother Vincent when they were both young, standing between him and the cruel people who would persecute him based on a superstition.

His loyalty is also apparent in what he doesn't do. Gil has a jealous streak. He fears that Oz will move on and he won't, and when he sees Oz bonding with Alice it dredges up his previous brainwashing and desire to kill her. The same goes for Oz's father, Xai, who mistreats and neglects Oz. But he chooses not to act on these feelings because he cares about how it would affect Oz.

3. What is justice to your character? How important is it to them?

Gil is someone who is apathetic to justice as a broad concept. He has done terrible things while working in Pandora to rescue Oz, and he's shown to struggle with the fact and feel some guilt, but Gil doesn't regret anything he has done. The world has not been kind to Gil or any of his loved ones. Pretty much all of them have experienced some kind of injustice. For Gil, that includes being sold off with his brother to a freakshow, being condemned and used by townspeople and nobles, being brainwashed...justice isn't a concept Gil gives much thought to except in how it affects those close to him. He becomes deeply upset when his loved ones are mistreated, but he'll also steal and kill for those people. Gil doesn't enjoy it, and would much rather get to be domestic, but he doesn't see the world as a just place and has little interest in changing that.

4. What would be your character's lowest, darkest moment they've lived through? How did they respond to their troubles and face their demons?

Gil hasn't had an easy life, but his lowest moment was betraying the person most important to him. Partly from his own indecision and partly from being brainwashed, Gil shot Oz after being commanded to by his former master, Glen Baskerville. This was undoubtedly Gil's lowest moment after vowing to never betray or harm Oz. Not only had he harmed someone dear to him, he had broken his promise. Gil had been warned his obsession with needing a master, needing to be needed would eventually hurt Oz, and it did. He became overly reliant on him and placed an unfair burden on him while avoiding his own insecurities and demons. He hadn't placed the burden only on Oz, but others as well, including his brother Vincent.

This was a huge wake up call. He could Gil had to make an extreme decision, and had Raven burn off his left arm, the one he used to shoot Oz, so that he would never harm him and there would be no way to control him again. He vowed to be Oz's valet with a confidence he had been too scared to stand in before, acknowledging Oz as his equal.

Powers/Abilities:
Baskerville: Gil is a Baskerville, meaning he won't physically age and is a lot harder to kill than most people. He can survive injuries that would kill others but still experiences permanent damage such as scarring and limbs not regrowing.

Raven: Gil has contracted to one of the most powerful Chains, Raven, and is able to summon them in canon. The chain has powerful blue flames that are able to kill even Baskervilles and create significant damage. Raven can seal the powers of other contractors and open portals to different dimensions in canon, although this power is very draining on Gil. Raven can also create illusions of itself having eyes and is about the size of a small house.

Sharpshooting: Gil's weapon of choice are dual pistols, and he's shown to be very adept at using them.

Housekeeping/cooking/domestic: Gil is shown to be a skilled cook. He enjoys knitting and cleaning.

Reality Warping: Not really expanded on in canon, but because Gil is an incarnation of Glen Baskerville, and a Baskerville, his existence somehow warps reality. This distortion that warps reality is thought to bring about the existence of Children of Ill Omen / Children of Misfortune, people born with red eyes, such as his brother Vincent.

Goals: Gil only recently found his agency and confidence as a person. I'd like to continue exploring that in a setting that challenges him to act on his own. Also, being a Baskerville, Gil has a longer lifespan than most people and he doesn't age. He's content to spend the next hundred years waiting for Oz and Alice to reincarnate while the people he loves or knows slowly die off. Gil's love for his family and loyalty to Oz remains absolute, but I want him to get to explore what it means to make more connections with others in game and what those connections mean to him.
